One of the key objectives of the company is to exploit onshore and shallow water Niger Delta opportunities and position for the evolving multitude of similar opportunities that will be available in the immediate and near future. The availability of small onshore and shallow water oil fields that have either been left fallow as remote discoveries or produced for over 20 years are sure candidates for rationalization.
The Multinationals and Government would seek to retain value on these properties by allowing Independents to operate these fields on negotiated terms as practiced all over the world. The fields that fall under this category are almost limitless in the present day Niger Delta scenario. Birene has particular interest in fields that could be one well discoveries or partially appraised discoveries that is in the portfolio of multinationals and has not been produced for over 10 years after such discoveries were made. We are also interested in fields that have been abandoned for upwards of 5 years without production activities.
The future of the firm would primarily revolve around having access to fields that have either been abandoned by the operators or has a relatively higher operating cost profile due to the multinationals field operating philosophy. There are a few fields that have been abandoned by big operators that can easily be put back into production. These fields may have reserves value far in excess of what they are presently reported to have in the books of the multinationals and very large upside potential.
The reservoir parameters of the fields are already known due to the long term production activities on the field, while activities such as well bore, well heads, infield flow lines and pipeline route are already in place.
